Throughout my teenage years I journeled. I was given a journal when I was thirteen. I wrote prayers, poetry, and my experiences. It was more than therapy to me, it was hope, and it was my connection to my heart and to God. I could sometimes feel Him writing through me and ministering to my heart. It's been a year now since I kept a daily journal. Ever since logging on to facebook, I seem to have ignored the hidden places of my heart to some degree. Avoiding the dark places, and the secret places somehow. But I am coming to miss those days, those days seemed somehow more sweet. When I could actually identify better where I was at, and somehow know from the secret place inside, that there was a love better than life. Yes, journaling is important. Searching your heart, searching God's heart, and allowing Him to heal you with the truth.

I found one way of releasing my feelings was through poetry. I discovered this when going through a difficult time in my marriage. Writing about my feelings and frustrations helped me cope. Little did I know that my wife would end up divorcing me! Expressing myself helped me deal with this rejection as well as dealing with what I had been through as a TCK.

"Even for your brother, his sense of being abandoned is, in reality, an
affirmation of how much he wanted your parents because there was
the potential for deep relationship there that it seems didn’t
happen for whatever reason. In other words, we can even grieve for
the potential good that was missed in our lives."

-> I never thought I could even grieve for the potential good that was missed. This concept is still new to me and I wish to learn more. Thank you so much for your honesty and understanding!

Ruth, you are so very kind.

Thank you so much Ruth. I agree with everything you have said so far so it is nice to have these important points reconfirmed, we all need to remember how important it is to take steps to resolve grief!! Your lessons have been very interesting and insightful.
